Statement from ACCO Executive Director Gayle Ward on House Passage of HB 1080

“The Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma is very pleased with the House of Representatives’ passage of HB  1080 and commends Rep. Mike Sanders for his dedication in seeing the bill through the House and we look forward to the bill now making its way to the Senate for consideration. HB 1080 is the county funding legislative vehicle to move transportation-derived revenues to county roads and bridges.  HB 1080 moves 2.5% of motor vehicle fees going to general revenue in FY 2014 and another 2.5% of motor vehicle fees going to general revenue in FY 2015 to the County Bridge and Road Improvement Fund (CBRI) totaling 5% total over the two-year period. The funds are allotted to counties  based upon the annual proportion that the rural major collector mileage of each county bears to the total statewide rural major collector mileage as determined by the Oklahoma  Department of Transportation.  The funds are badly needed for the maintenance, preservation and construction of the rural major collector system of each county.   In short, HB 1080 is very important to the continued investment in county highway and bridge projects across Oklahoma.”
